Astronergy has successfully supplied 417MW of its ASTRO N5 module products to a landmark 1000MW "Solar Thermal + PV" Power Plant in China. The project is developed by China’s state-owned Three Gorges Corporation, marking a significant milestone in the green energy sector.
The station was officially connected to the grid on December 22, 2024. It is expected to generate about 1.86 billion kWh of clean energy annually, providing sustainable electricity for around 800,000 households in the local community.
This project stands out as the largest "Linear Fresnel" concentrated solar power demonstration project in China, boasting a total installed capacity of 1 million kW. It includes 900,000kW of PV generation and a 100,000kW molten salt thermal energy storage system. Equipped with an 8-hour storage capability, the solar collection area spans 800,000 square meters, enhancing energy efficiency and output.
The collaboration between the thermal storage facility and the PV system will enable 24/7 electricity generation, ensuring a stable energy supply. This innovative setup is anticipated to reduce standard coal consumption by approximately 560,000 tons every year, translating to a reduction of over 1.5 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
As China's first large-scale "Linear Fresnel" technology application, this project highlights Astronergy's leadership in renewable energy innovation. By using a unique mirror array to concentrate sunlight and heat molten salt to 550°C, the project showcases cutting-edge advancements in sustainable energy. It sets a benchmark for clean energy solutions worldwide and reinforces Astronergy's commitment to global sustainability.
