ASTRO N Steel-framed PV Modules Empower Traditional Industries to Reduce Carbon Emissions
1 -06 2025   70views

By the end of 2024, a 1000MW Jiuquan Iron and Steel Group (JISCO) solar power station was successfully connected to the grid. Supported by 480MW of ASTRO N steel-framed PV modules, this project is a shining example of how solar energy drives the transition of traditional industries to renewable energy sources.

In 2024, Astronergy reached strategic cooperation with several leading iron and steel companies in China, including China Baowu Steel Group Corporation and Jiuquan Iron and Steel Group (JISCO). These collaborations highlight Astronergy’s commitment to supporting traditional industries in their transition to sustainable energy solutions. Astronergy successfully completed the delivery of ASTRO N steel-framed PV modules to its partners to help reduce their carbon footprint significantly.

Located in Northwest China, JISCO’s solar power station project boosts a total installed capacity of 1000MW, of which Astronergy supplies 240MW of ASTRO N7 steel-framed PV modules and 240MW of ASTRO N5 steel-framed PV modules. Compared with conventional aluminum frames, steel frames PV modules are greener and low-carbon throughout their life cycle. The molding process features cold bending and compression molding without heating, resulting in lower energy consumption, zero wastewater and no gas emissions.

In addition, steel-framed PV modules have better physical properties. For example, with enhanced mechanical strength and elastic modulus, ASTRO N7 steel-framed PV modules can effectively minimize the module deformation in various stress states, improving the overall strength of the module with higher durability.

ASTRO N Steel-framed PV Module Products

Currently, Astronergy’s ASTRO N steel-framed product series includes ASTRO N5 72-cell and 78-cell PV modules and ASTRO N7 66-cell PV modules, which can meet the diverse needs of utility-scale PV power station projects. Meanwhile, other cell layout products are being developed and tested simultaneously for future market demands.

Moreover, ASTRO N steel-framed modules have passed various tests, such as static mechanical load test, dynamic mechanical load test, DH test, and TC test. These test results demonstrate the excellent performance of steel-framed modules in reliability and durability.

Astronergy has already started the mass production and delivery of ASTRO N steel-framed PV modules. The company will continue to help more energy-intensive traditional industries down on energy consumption and reduce emissions. With these efforts, Astronergy is dedicated to playing a key role in the global energy transition, leveraging solar power to build a more sustainable world for all.
