Astronergy Wins Bid for 2 MW Photovoltaic Project

HANGZHOU- Through a competitive and selective bidding process, Astronergy landed a deal to build a 2 MW rooftop PV project located in the Hangzhou Energy and Environment Industrial Park. This project will be fully financed by the China Energy Conservation Investment Corporation, and is the first large-scale on-grid PV plant in Zhejiang Province.

The industrial park is situated in the northeast corner of Hangzhou, covering an area of 23.8 km2. The rooftop of the Green Science and Technology Hall will be among the first to incorporate building integrated PV (BIPV) technologies. Astronergy’s high-efficiency tandem thin film PV modules with 30% transparency will be used for the hall’s 58 m2 sunroof. This thin film PV is highly resistant to harsh climate conditions such as strong winds and heavy rainfall. The Energy Conservation Hall on the other side of the industrial park will also employ Astronergy’s thin film modules on its 265 m2 curved building wall.

Astronergy will be in charge of the design and installation of the PV system for the park, using a combination of crystalline silicon based modules and high-efficiency tandem thin film PV modules. The project is slated to be completed by September 30, 2009.

The Chinese government announced the Golden Sun Program on July 22, 2009, an initiative that would provide financial support for the growth and development of the domestic PV market and industry. Under this policy, the government plans to finance at least 500 MW of capacity in various PV power stations and projects, over the next two to three years.

“The Golden Sun Program will create many excellent opportunities to showcase Astronergy's revolutionary thin film technology.  This project will help us to differentiate ourselves from other PV companies and establish our position in the industry," said Dr. Liyou Yang, CEO of Astronergy.
